Summer Saunter Series
Its summer time so why not come and explore our coastal marathon routes with the benefit of improved weather conditions, i mean how good does this sound, the sun, the sea and of course marathon running, what more could you possibly want. Well I'm sure you're all thinking "actually how about a nice frosty beer too?" Aha, as our races are close to many local pubs there will certainly be opportunity for that as well.
But anyhow, getting back to this running lark, i suppose you might just want an idea of which courses are involved in this magical series. Well have a look below and you'll see whats in store for this event. And remember, as before, we have a 6 hour cut off time for the marathons and a 3 hour cut-off for any half marathons.
Day 1 - To kick start the series we have our Dockside Drama course which is a 6.6 mile lapped course combining trail and concrete cycle paths to give something for everyone. The marathon distance is 4 laps of the course and the Half Marathon is 2 laps. The 10km is 1 lap of the course and the 5km is 1 lap of the shorter course. The start finish area is at the Dock Museum.
For Day 2, runners will take on the Roa Island Ruckus Marathon which will start The Clarkes Hotel, Rampside. The marathon route will consist of 4 laps and half marathoners will complete just two laps of the course. The 10km is 1 lap of the course and the 5km is 1 lap of the shorter course.
Finally for day 3 we're back down to the Dock Museum for our new Sowerby Adventure course, this course takes us from Barrow Dockside, North uptowards Sowerby industrial estate before turning around and heading over the trails and channelside footpath before arriving back at the dock museum and start / finish area.
The course is a 6.7 mile lap and 4 laps are required for the full Marathon distance. 2 laps for the Half Marathon and 1 lap for the 10km. The 5km race will have a seperate shorter course marked out.
All our races start at 9 am with race registration opening at 7.30 am.
We look forward to welcoming you on this great marathon series. For any questions, please contact myself (Chris Kay) at:
